Let’s face it, a great location is real estate gold. So, when our Prize Home team snagged this rare plot of land at Golden Beach on the Sunshine Coast, just a block back from the sand, it’s fair to say they celebrated like they’d won the jackpot.
And now that a stunning new $2.8 million contemporary beach house sits atop this golden nugget of land, some lucky soul really will win ‘the jackpot’.

This is what ‘winning the jackpot’ looks like.
If you know this area, you’d know that what sets it apart is Pumicestone Passage (a 34km, protected body of water which flows between the coastline and Bribie Island) stretching from the Bribie bridge all the way to Caloundra. At the northernmost end, the Passage travels the length of Golden Beach before making a final, almost right angle turn around the tip of the island before coming face-to-face with the Caloundra Bar. This relatively recently formed sandbar links the mainland to the island, creating a lagoon-like paradise for families and lovers of watersports.

It doesn’t get much better than this.
And just a stone’s throw from this paradise is, you guessed it, our stunning Prize-Home-worthy Beach House that could soon be yours.
To get your bearings, stroll the 250 metres down to the waterfront, and you’ll find yourself right on that bend, with this spectacular expanse of water before you and stunning views to the north across Caloundra and to the south down Pumicestone Passage and the length of Golden Beach.
Straight across from you is the northern end of Bribie – make a mental note to explore that later. (When the mood takes you to explore, it’s an easy paddle across to the island in a kayak or if head around to Happy Valley, you can even walk to Bribie via the sand bar.)

Late afternoon view of the north end of Pumicestone Passage and Bribie Island.
The uninhabited tip of the island has been hanging onto the main part of Bribie by a thread for decades, more recently, somewhat unsuccessfully. When wild weather whipped up by Cyclone Seth in 2022 caused the first of three breakthroughs in the slither of sand that connected the tip to the main island, Bribie Island North was born. Significant works have seen the breakthroughs filled with sand, closing the gaps, and ensuring that Golden beach remains the protected gem that it is.
From where you’re standing on the waterfront, look slightly left to the north-east, and your eye will take you across the shimmering water to Bulcock Beach. It’s easy to spot thanks to the towering Norfolk Pines that were planted in the 1930s.
With gently sloping sand leading to paddle-friendly calm water, the beach is a favourite with young families. Bulcock is also home to a strip of cafés and restaurants where you’re guaranteed to find a feast of fish and chips from the three or so options available when it’s time to come up from the water to refuel. But whatever you do, make sure you save a little corner of your stomach for dessert. Beloved local gelateria, Gelato Rumba, is an institution on the Coast and not to be missed if you find yourself in this neck of the woods.
Following around to the east, Bulcock Beach flows seamlessly into the appropriately named Happy Valley. With a sprawling beachside playground, this beach is a certified ‘happy place’ for kids full of beans and parents keen to spend a lazy afternoon by the water.
A bit further on, just out of sight, is the famous Kings Beach. Perched out on the rocks at the northern end of the beach, is the iconic Kings Beach Ocean Pool. Open year-round from 4am until 9pm, it’s the perfect place to get in a few laps as the sun comes up… or goes down.

Kings Beach, Caloundra.
And best of all, you can walk to each of these spots from your Golden Beach base thanks to the amazing Coastal Pathway that traces the length of the Sunshine Coast. Occasionally dipping inland where needed to connect one beach to another, much of the pathway hugs the coastline offering incredible views of the Sunshine Coast’s iconic beaches.
The Pathway winds its way up around the rocky Caloundra Headland before dipping back down to three more of Caloundra’s beaches: Shelly Beach (which is surprisingly not particularly shelly and can be very rocky), Moffat Beach (stop by The Pocket Espresso Bar and say g’day to the barista for us before snagging a possie at the bench for a caffeine boost with ocean views), and Dicky Beach (where you can enjoy some live entertainment courtesy of the pumping, but still family-friendly, skate bowl in the beachside park).
Spawn back in the centre – your Prize Home HQ – and the journey south along Golden Beach is a little more peaceful but just as rewarding. Your ‘local’ beach strip that’s literally around the corner at the end of the street, is a great place to start. Lined with native coastal trees, including she-oaks, tuckeroos and pandanus, this part of the coast has its own unique vibe and offers the incredible advantage of beach shade, especially in the afternoon as the sun goes down in the west. Find the perfect spot to tuck yourself in and settle in for the afternoon.
Golden Beach Esplanade, lined with a mix of beachside parkland, old school beach houses and holiday accommodation, keeps on going and going until it reaches the shopping and dining hub of the area and also the local jetty.
As a coastal location, the beauty and diversity of Caloundra and Golden Beach area is gaining more and more recognition and, we think, deservedly so.
