Imagine a job that feels like it was made for you. A place where you are supported, encouraged, and celebrated for who you are.
For Katie and Janaya, that is their reality. Thanks to Endeavour Foundation’s Supported Employment program, the duo have found more than work.
From learning new skills to making lifelong friends, their story proves one thing: your support through Endeavour Lotteries changes lives.
Your ticket isn’t just a chance to win a stunning prize home, it gives people with intellectual disability the opportunity to find meaningful employment.
Katie started her journey with Endeavour Foundation as a supported employee at Wacol Business Solutions in Brisbane.
What she didn’t expect? Gaining a sister.
“When I came to work here, we just clicked,” Katie said.
Despite a ten-year age gap, their friendship blossomed instantly.
“She reminded me of my younger self - kind and nice. Age doesn’t matter. She’s my yin, and I’m her yang. We balance each other.”
Katie and Janaya often work side by side on the production line. For them, it’s more than getting the job done, it’s about lifting each other up.
“When I’m on her production line, we work on the machines together,” Katie explained.
“I’m still in training, but I bring the energy and make her laugh.”
Katie’s confidence has soared thanks to the support around her.
“My Employment Coach, Tiarnie, is amazing. She sees I have potential to be a leader,” Katie said.
“It’s all about believing in yourself. And I’ve come a long way.”
Friendship at work has given Katie more than good company, it’s also given her courage and confidence.
“I find it hard to make friends and have been burned before,” she admitted.
“But Janaya has been here for me through good and bad days. Having someone you trust makes work less scary.”
Break times are a highlight. “That’s when we get to socialise,” Katie said with a smile.
“But honestly, the best thing is seeing my best friend five days a week.”
Katie’s Employment Coach, Tiarnie, sees their friendship as something truly special.
“They’re like sisters,” Tiarnie said.
“They encourage each other, celebrate wins, and the quality of their work speaks volumes.”
That support continues as Janaya works toward her next milestone – becoming a Line Assistant.
“I’m so excited for her,” Katie said.
“She’s stepped up and I love seeing her confidence grow.”
This Is What Your Support Makes Possible
Katie and Janaya’s story shows that Supported Employment is more than just earning a wage. It’s about independence, confidence, and friendships that turn a workplace into a community.
And here’s the best part: every ticket you buy with Endeavour Lotteries helps make this happen. You’re not just in the draw for a dream home—you’re creating opportunities for people with disability to thrive, connect, and chase their dreams.
“If you want to achieve your dreams, this [Endeavour Foundation] is the place to be!” Katie laughed.
