Meet Clayton & Henry: The People Behind the Prize Home

You might recognise Clayton and Henry from our latest Prize Home 469 walkthrough, where they took a turn in front of the camera to help show you our pretty sweet $2.9 million Golden Beach Prize Home.

Haven’t met them yet? Watch the Prize Home 469 walkthrough and get to know Clayton and Henry for yourself:

But there’s much more to these two than their moment on screen.

Clayton and Henry are Supported Employees at Endeavour Foundation’s Business Solutions site in Maroochydore, where they’re part of a team of 58 people working across Packaging, Document Destruction and Decanting.

And while showing off a beautiful Golden Beach home made for a pretty exciting day, it’s what Clayton and Henry achieve in their everyday work that we really want to celebrate.

Meet Clayton: Bringing Plenty of Personality to Work

If there’s a joke to be told, there’s a good chance Clayton will be the one telling it.

Known for bringing plenty of energy and enthusiasm to the team, Clayton loves having fun with his co-workers and making people laugh. Outside of work, you’ll find him enjoying arcade games, watching movies and footy, or adding to his collection of model cars.

But there’s another side to Clayton, too. He cares deeply about the people around him and takes plenty of pride in the work he does.

Over the last 20 years, Clayton has built new skills across different areas of the business, from coffee packing to operating the tail lift during Document Destruction runs. His favourite? Coffee packaging with Solid Ground Coffee Roasters, he says:

“The job gets me out and about working within the community.”

For Clayton, having a job means more than the tasks he completes each day. As he puts it:

“I like having a job to come to, it gives me purpose and independence.”

It also means getting to see his friends at work every day, learning new skills and being part of a team.

Those might sound like simple things, but they’re a big part of what meaningful employment can provide: somewhere to belong, opportunities to grow and the confidence that comes from contributing and developing greater independence.

Meet Henry: 45 Years and Plenty to Celebrate

Henry is a sweet, caring gentleman with a positive and friendly attitude, Henry works within the Packaging team, helping prepare and pack products for third-party businesses.

He’s a great listener, works well independently and is equally comfortable contributing as part of a team (and he knows a thing or two about the job).

Henry has celebrated an incredible 45 years of service with Endeavour Foundation.

When he received his 45-year service certificate, his Employment Coach remembers just how happy and proud he was.

Forty-five years of turning up, contributing, building skills, forming friendships and being part of a team is certainly something worth celebrating.

The Bigger Story: What Work Can Mean

Clayton and Henry are two of 58 supported employees working at Business Solutions Maroochydore.

But meaningful employment isn't about giving everyone the same job.

Employment coaches work alongside supported employees to find tasks that suit their individual skills and interests across three departments: Document Destruction, Packaging and Decanting. They provide guidance throughout the workday while supporting each person to work towards their own goals.

Along the way, employees can develop skills that reach well beyond a particular task from punctuality, time management and reliability to communication, adaptability, working independently and being part of a team.

And sometimes, work brings opportunities that are a little outside the ordinary, like swapping the workplace for a day in front of the camera at a $2.9 million Prize Home.

For Clayton and Henry, taking part in the Prize Home 469 walkthrough was a chance to try something different, have some fun together and proudly represent Endeavour Foundation. It’s not every day you get to explore a beautiful Golden Beach home while helping bring a Prize Home video to life!

Back at work, Clayton continues building skills like operating a tail lift and heading out into the community to package coffee.

For Henry, it’s about bringing decades of experience to his role, being part of a team and continuing to do work he can take pride in.

Different people. Different strengths. Different experiences and achievements.

And that's exactly the point.

Behind Every Ticket Is a Bigger Story

Prize Home 469 might have given Clayton and Henry the chance to show you around a spectacular Golden Beach home, but their story also shows what Endeavour Lotteries is really about.

Every ticket purchased helps support the work of Endeavour Foundation, creating opportunities for people with intellectual disability to learn, earn and thrive.

For people like Clayton and Henry, those opportunities can mean building workplace skills, growing in confidence and independence, forming friendships and experiencing the sense of purpose that comes from meaningful employment.

When we asked Clayton what he would say to the people who buy Endeavour Lotteries tickets, his message was just as meaningful:

“All proceeds go back into the Endeavour Foundation supporting people with disabilities. This helps us have opportunities to live our best lives and develop our work skills.”

So, behind every ticket is more than the chance to win an incredible prize.

There are opportunities for people like Clayton and Henry to build skills, make friends, grow their independence and do work they’re proud of.

That might just be the sweetest win of all.
