After receiving the keys to a stunning $2.3 million Prize Home at Mermaid Waters on the Gold Coast in 2023, one lucky Endeavour Lotteries winner has won again less than two years later.
Having made the move to Mermaid Waters and now living the dream thanks to his win, John couldn’t believe it when he received yet another call from Endeavour HQ telling him that he had won… again!
"I think the universe is looking after me," he said.
But what are the odds that he would win an Endeavour Lotteries prize for a second time?
"About 1 in a billion my son, the brilliant mathematician, calculated,” John laughed.
This time, John was the winner of the members-only Instant Pay Rise draw, earning him a very handy $5,000 a month for 12 months.
“As fast as it’s in the bank account, it’s been going out!
"I’ve used a part of it to pay for my son's 21st present, so he’s off to South Korea. I’ve spent a swag of it for my daughter’s education; she needed a new laptop for her college. And I’ve paid for my youngest son’s schoolies trip to Vanuatu at the end of the year.
“It’s all going out the door very, very quickly.
“I'm hoping to treat myself to something so I'm looking at a mattress so I can get a good night’s sleep,” he laughed.
And John’s plans for the rest of his windfall?
"Keep a bit of savings in the account ready for the expenses that my children are constantly ring me up about,” he said.
John’s Instant Pay Rise win has made life at Mermaid Waters all the sweeter.
"I really enjoy coming home. There’s nothing like coming home to a nice house after a hard day."
"I drive into Brisbane most days for work, unfortunately, but we love it on the weekends when we’re already down near the beach."
The active Gold Coast lifestyle is also a big positive for John’s autistic son.
"My son loves walking – he’s a big walker and it’s a great area to walk. It’s a very walkable part of the coast so it works out really well for us. We’re so grateful to be honest.”
So now that John has won twice, could it even be possible for lightning to strike thrice?
Truthfully, the answer is yes, as long as John continues to be an Endeavour Lotteries member.
"I’ll be an [Endeavour Lotteries] member for the rest of my life, until the day I die. I can’t cancel it now.
“It’s a good cause and it's in my universe of concern so I am happy to support.”
