If you’ve ever wondered, “Can I win a Prize Home if I live interstate?”, the answer is an absolute ‘Yes!’
Our supporters, and ultimately winners, come from far and wide. Endeavour Foundation supporters can be found in almost every corner of Australia which means many of our lucky winners make the journey from interstate to receive the keys to their stunning Endeavour Prize Home.
(Read to the end to discover the stories of just a few of our interstate winners…)
Maybe you’ve always dreamt of moving to Queensland and, let’s face it, winning a Prize Home would be an incredible way to make it happen.
Maybe you fancy the idea of having your own luxury Sunshine Coast holiday home ready and waiting for when you want to get away on a whim.
Or just maybe, you know a great – and very worthwhile – investment when you see one. The possibility of being set for life on the back of a $10 outlay for an Endeavour Prize Home lottery ticket is undoubtedly hard to pass up. Then when you remember that you’re also supporting people with disability to live, learn, work and flourish, how could you not be on a winner?
It’s no secret that our amazing Prize Homes are located in some of Queensland’s best known holiday hotspots including the Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, and the beautiful adjoining hinterland areas.
Take our current $2.7 million Palmview Paradise Prize Home. It’s under 20 minutes from iconic Mooloolaba and spectacular Sunshine Coast surf beaches, this expansive family home is set on over 3000m2 and offers panoramic vistas across to the coast.
Given that ‘location, location, location’ is everything in real estate, an Endeavour Prize Home such as this is an investment that keeps on giving. With estimated rental potential of $1750 per week, you could rent it out long-term or Airbnb it for even higher weekly rates. And if you decide to sell, that location is worth its weight in gold.
The multi-million-dollar question
What would you do if you won? Would you:
OR
Whichever option you choose, one thing is certain: your life will be changed forever.
Best of all, while you’re waiting for the title to clear (which usually takes a couple of months after you receive the keys) and mulling over what to do with your multi-million-dollar windfall, you can make the most of your new luxurious Queensland holiday pad.
Here’s what some of our interstate winners have decided to do with their amazing Prize Homes:
For one lucky FIFO (fly-in fly-out) worker, winning a $2.9 million Tewantin Prize Home in Noosa Shire became his ticket home. Noosa had always held fond memories as it’s where he spent much of his youth and it’s also where he met his wife.
He and his wife moved to WA during the COVID lockdown, selling their home in Brisbane just before the property market surged. As prices climbed, buying back into the area seemed increasingly out of reach.
“There were moments I believed we might never be homeowners again. I thought we’d be stuck out in the ‘desert’ forever,” he said.
The Star Supporter never gave up hope though, and one special day, a phone call from Endeavour HQ changed it all.
“When this house in Tewantin popped up, I knew this would be the one I’d drop everything and move for. And yeah, that’s what we’re doing,” he smiled.
Even when Oliver and his family flew north over the border to receive the keys to their stunning new Sunshine Coast Prize Home, they could still barely believe their good fortune.
“You know, just getting to the airport and getting on the plane thinking, “Is this true? Is this happening?” And then once we got up there, we saw the ribbon on the door and we were like, “Oh my God, it is real.””
Although Oliver and his wife had always imagined retiring to the Sunshine Coast, the timing wasn’t quite right for their family, so they made the decision to sell.
As he explained at the time, “It's going to give us the ability to pay off our mortgage and that's like fast forwarding our lives 10 or 15 years.
“It's quite bittersweet though, because we love the house… but no matter which way you look at it…it's life changing.”
For ‘born and bred’ Victorian, Gary, winning a $1.8 million Sunshine Coast Prize Home, complete with jet skis, was a whole-body experience.
“My whole body went tingly, and I said to myself, ‘This is one of the best moments of your life, don’t have a heart attack now!” he laughed.
“At one stage, we weren’t sure what we were going to do – whether we were going to keep it or sell it – so we had an agent come through,” Gary said.
But after considering all their options, Gary and his wife decided to keep the home and enjoy it.
“We’re both virtually retired so we’ll come up as often as we can and if family want to go up there, they can enjoy it too. I’ll just give them the keys.”
“It’s going to do my heart good to see the family on the beach and the grandkids enjoying the jet skis and having good family times.”
