Is This the Perfect Spot to Celebrate A Sunshine Coast Christmas?

Coolum

Home to spectacular million-dollar properties, including Endeavour Foundation’s newest Prize Home, Valdora is one of the Sunshine Coast’s best kept secrets.

It’s easy to see why. Nestled snugly in the foothills of Mount Ninderry, Valdora is just a 12-minute drive from the flags of Coolum Beach.

When you pull up in this stunning part of the world, the first thing you notice is the relaxed, rural atmosphere. Before you even realise it, you’re starting to unwind. The next thing you notice is the breathtaking views. A blend of mountains, rainforest and rolling green hills that stretch all the way to the coast.

Spend just a few peaceful hours here and it’s easy to forget you’re just a stone’s throw from some of the world’s best beaches and the buzz of the coast. No wonder Valdora is considered the perfect escape. So near but yet so far.

Part of the original farming belt tucked behind the beach communities of the Sunshine Coast, Valdora’s fertile hills and valleys are now being enjoyed by a new generation of families. Where better to raise your kids than this slice of Queensland paradise? Flanked by protected bushland, this growing community’s sense of peace and tranquillity is secure, now and into the future.

Just 90-minutes up the highway from Brisbane, Valdora is the perfect place to spend a weekend, a summer or perhaps, the rest of your life.

Mount Ninderry is a nice thing to have in your ‘backyard’

Imagine your own acreage haven nestled in paradise.

Set on over a hectare of land, Endeavour Foundation’s $1.1 million eco-friendly Prize Home backs onto a bushland reserve, capturing coastal breezes and views of Mount Ninderry. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy precious time with family and friends without the distractions of everyday life.

Just beyond your backyard, Mount Ninderry offers more than just a pretty view. With walking tracks weaving through the forest to spectacular lookouts, it’s a great way to get the family outdoors and back to nature.

The ideal base for exploring the best bits of the Sunshine Coast

If you were aiming to land a drop-pin in the heart of the Sunshine Coast region, it might just land in Valdora. Roughly half the way up the coastline and spliced between the hinterland ranges to the west and the beaches to the east, Valdora really does find itself in an enviably central location. You’d be hard-pressed to choose a better base to enjoy all the Sunshine Coast living has to offer:

Coolum Beach – 12 mins

Throw the board on the roof and the towels in the back and a few minutes later you’ll be hitting the surf in Coolum. It’s awesome to think that with a home base in Valdora, this amazing beach would become your ‘local’.

Of course, living so close, you’d have to join the surf club rather than signing in as a visitor, but that’s a nice problem to have.

Still managing to hang onto its laidback vibe, it’s almost as if Coolum doesn’t realise just how cool it is. There are so many cafes and juice bars to try but it’s worth investing the time to decide on a favourite.

Zip across to Coolum for an early morning swim.

Who needs a gym when you can walk or run along the coastal trails just minutes from home? The boardwalk around Point Arkwright is a great place to start for spectacular views all the way to Moreton Island. Take the binoculars with you and you might even spot a whale during the whale-watching season (June to November).

You could even add climbing Mount Coolum into the training regime. Grab a bottle of water and a snack for the summit and set off for an epic climb. It’s only 1.6km to the top but don’t be deceived. It’s an intense workout even for fit walkers so make sure you bring your stair-legs. The 180-degree views at the summit, stretching along the entire coast, are mighty spectacular though and totally worth every rocky step.

Yandina – 10 mins

Sharing the 4561 postcode with Valdora, Yandina is a much-loved neighbour, with a similarly relaxed vibe. Kids of all ages love a visit to the Ginger Factory as long as it ends with a sweet treat or two. Tucked away on the outskirts of the village is the famous Spirit House restaurant – contemporary Thai dining in lush tropical gardens; a feast for all the senses.

Eumundi – 15 mins

Just a short drive north of Valdora is the vibrant and eclectic village of Eumundi. Main Street is always fun to explore, dotted with unique shops, galleries and cafes. However, it’s on Wednesdays and Saturday mornings that this town really comes alive with the famous Eumundi Markets, Australia’s premier artisan markets.

Peregian Beach – 20 mins

Home to trendy cafes, gift stores and boutiques, this chilled village community is also the home of Peregian Originals, a Sunshine Coast institution. On the second Sunday afternoon each month, this free, open-air community event celebrates local, original live music – from indie rock to folk and everything in between.

The open surf beach of Peregian is typical of many along the Sunshine Coast.

Maroochydore – 25 mins

Listening to the native birds from the deck of the Valdora Prize Home, it’s hard to believe that you’re so close to the shops and cinemas of Sunshine Plaza. Anything you need you’ll be able to find in Maroochydore. And the icing on the cake? When you’re all shopped out, you get to escape the bustle and head back to paradise to put your feet up.

Mooloolaba – 30 mins

Just five more minutes down the coast is Mooloolaba’s famous, family-friendly surf beach, recently nominated as one of Australia’s Top Ten beaches by TripAdvisor. Mooloolaba’s glamorous esplanade is a destination in itself, dripping with designer boutiques and a buffet of delectable cafes and restaurants. For more casual dining, head out to the spit for a fresh seafood feast or grab some takeaway fish and chips and head across the road for a beach picnic.

Noosa Heads – 30 mins

Imagine having one of the most breathtakingly beautiful coastal communities in the world just minutes away. Noosa really is the perfect storm of spectacular beaches, elegant shopping and alfresco dining. The carefully considered and controlled low-rise development of this community ensures that Noosa has lost none of its natural charm. A walk up Noosa Hill to the National Park then around the headland to Hell’s Gate is the best way to truly appreciate this stunning part of the world.

Montville – 30 mins

When the mercury rises down on the coast, head up into the hinterland for a cool change. A short, picturesque drive up the Blackall Range leads you to one of the Sunshine Coast hinterland’s most charming towns. Lined with historical buildings, art galleries, boutique stores and cafes, Montville’s Main Street winds along the edge of the range, with spectacular views out to the coast and as far as the eye can see.

The view from Montville is something to behold.

Kondalilla National Park is also close by where you can stretch out for a picnic under a canopy of trees or head off on the 4.7km Kondalilla Falls circuit to see these beautiful falls plunging 90 metres into the gorge below.

Kondalilla National Park is a must-do in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

Maleny – 45 mins

Just 15 minutes along the range from Montville, is the unique township of Maleny. Set high amongst impossibly green rolling hills, Maleny is the unofficial ‘capital’ of the region and the hub of the local dairy farming community. It is also home to a thriving creative scene with local artists and artisanal producers setting up shop in town and in the surrounding area. Cheese and wine tour anyone?

With views over the Glasshouse Mountains and out to sea, the Maleny region is a spectacular part of the world.

Dreaming of making a permanent seachange?

For the lucky winner, this dream home in Valdora may present the perfect opportunity to make a permanent seachange to the Sunshine Coast. If you’re looking to set down some roots, Valdora is a wonderful choice. While it’s close to all the attractions of the Sunshine Coast, the suburb is also well serviced with a number of public and private schools to choose from within 10km of home. For added peace of mind, the region’s largest hospital, Nambour General Hospital, is just 18 minutes away. And for the interstate or international family and friends that will undoubtedly want to visit (who wouldn’t?), Maroochydore Airport is just a 20-minute Uber ride away.
